Late 50s Halloween Hat

This Halloween hat is a curious mix of Sexy Witch and pert and pretty girlishness. Probably made in the late 50s, it isn’t the handiwork Beistle or Dennison and probably isn’t Whitney or Gibson either. That means it must be from one of the countless small firms supplying the Halloween market. Certainly that is the opinion of Mark B. Ledenbach, whose word is law in such matters! I am very much indebted to Mark for having a look at this item for me.

Incidentally, anyone with even a passing interest in Halloweeniana or Halloween Collectibles, should pick up a copy of Mark’s book, Vintage Halloween Collectibles: Identification & Price Guide and check out his site (here). The collection on display in Mark’s book is fantastic, the illustrations are the best I have seen, and the information is scrupulously accurate (and Mark’s site has an addenda page that is constantly updated).
