Marina Baker

Marina Augusta Baker, now Councillor Marina Pepper, started modeling at 18. In March 1987 she appeared in Playboy magazine (see below). After a period as a model and actor, Baker worked as a journalist and is now involved in local politics. Her most recent success being voted the 33rd Chair of Lewes District Council (see here).

Baker is a practicing Wiccan and author of two books on witchcraft: Spells for Teenage Witches (2000) [or Spells for Teenage Witches: Get Your Way With Magical Power] and Spells for the Witch in You (2001). In 2001 Baker mentioned, in a short review of Doreen Valiente’s Natural Magic (1985), that her mother read this book when she was a child but she did not ‘come out’ until years later (according to an article by Suzy Betts, “her ‘coming out’ was a response to colleagues’ disappointment at her being a mere writer”).

[UPDATE 11 September 06: The photos below are from Baker's 1987 Playboy photo shoot, but only one of the photos appeared in the March 1987 issue of Playboy: the centrefold (For the other photos that appeared in the March 1987 issue of Playboy see my second post on Baker, here). The rest of the centrefold photo-shoot images appeared in a number of later issues and in associated publications (such as Playboy's Book of Lingerie). For more information on Baker see Wikipedia.]

[UPDATE 19 April 09. I have now expanded the image-set below to include every photo that I can find—a dozen of them—from this one shoot: this includes scans of my own, but also images found online in varying sizes and from unknown sources. I have put them in the order that they were probably taken in. As I find larger and better images, I will replace the ones below.]

Her success in journlism, writing and politics shows that there is more to this sexy witch than meets the eye. She has a wonderful bubbly but forthright personality and is not afraid of telling political opponents where the line is drawn.

I hear this woman is now a Lib-Dem councillor in the Brighton area. The British National Party has recently leafleted an area in or close to her constituency near Brighton. The leaflet was their anti Islamic one that echoes the genuine fears of several million indigenous Britons. The good councillor decided to take umbridge and decided that, in spite of “free speech,” the BNP had no right to say what they (and millions of Britons) thought and reported the matter to the Police and the Crown Prosecution Service. The very liberal and thoroughly democratic councillor got her “come-uppance” when the BNP’s freedom of speech protection machine rolled smoothly into action and brought this web page to the public’s attention. Their article contained links to the good councillor’s alleged lesbian relationship with Hugh Hefner’s wife and also a link to a BBC report alleging her meddling with witchcraft. So there we have it, the Lib-Dems seem to like using lesbian pin-up models involved in witchcraft with a Nazi attitude towards democracy for their front women and yet hide the facts from their constituents. I do urge everyone to link to the following URL for the BNP’s full comment. I have no idea if the good councillor will survive the political fall-out that will now ensue, but at least she appears to be well equipped to return to her previous career. Let this be a warning to any anti free speech, anti democratic, anti British politician, The BNP bites back!! http://www.bnp.org.uk/reg_showarticle.php?contentID=1370

I am a BNP member too but see no problem with the councillor apart from her attitude towards the BNP going about their legal activities.

Wicca is a more indiginous religion than Christianity anyway. I think full marks to Marina Baker for her celebration of the human body and progressive attitude towards nudity.

I would welcome her into the British National Party anyday if she chose to defect.

I am a BNP member too, and have no problem with Marina’s wiccan links, being a practising pagan myself and also that it was the first “religion” is this island before Christianity. But I do object to the sleazy part of this woman’s background and certainly would not like her to represent my ward! I agree with the BNP that this is not the sort of representative that should be in public life and it just shows the difference between the upstanding morals and dignity of the British National Party in comparison with the low-lifes one gets nowadays in the other 3 main parties!

  5. It’s heartening to see BNP members can think for themselves, and good luck in your campaign to maintain freedom of speech.

However, how laughable is the quote from the above post: “The very liberal and thoroughly democratic councillor got her “come-uppance” when the BNP’s freedom of speech protection machine rolled smoothly into action and brought this web page to the public’s attention.

It doesn’t strike me that this brave and freethinking woman, whose argument was one of protecting her ward from the usual stirring, cynical politics of the BNP, would give two hoots about this page or her exposure (literally) in the Playboy magazine. And lest you forget, lesbianism isn’t illegal either.
YOu won your case, but this woman is freer than any of you paranoic xenephobes will ever be.

Why does the BNP support freedom of speech, but not freedom of movement? Mrs Pepper was very beautiful at the age of 18, and seems to be principled now.

Freedom of speech is premised on the idea of liberal tolerance. The BNP is being very hypocritical, complaining because people are not completely tolerant of their aggressive intolerance.

People involved with the BNP seem incapable of coherant arguments, mainly because their ideas are based on a completely arbitrary idea of what it is to be English/British/Anglo-Saxon/Danish/Christian /Pagan.

I say that we should drive all the newcomers into the sea and let the Cornish Celts have their island back!

This has to be one of the most stunning women ever photographed: just amazing.
Now, of course, she would be considered ‘plus’ sized, too curvy, or some utter nonsense.
If women in England are built more like this, I’m going to have to move there.

Marina changed my life by making me look at it all-anew and from a perspective other than my child’s view.
I hope she laughs at stuff like this and continues to do good.
She is a force stronger and more complex than any one being should be.
